A New Contract With America Part 2: The Reforms That Will Save America’s Future
America is at a crossroads, and the choices we make right now will determine whether this nation regains its strength or continues its slow decline. In Part 2 of the New Contract with America, I lay out the reforms that Washington refuses to touch even though every honest person knows they are essential to securing our future. From the looming collapse of Social Security and Medicare to a broken immigration system that rewards lawlessness, these are the issues that politicians tiptoe around because they fear the political consequences. The irony is that by avoiding these conversations, they make the consequences far worse for every American who depends on a functioning government.
Social Security and Medicare remain two of the most important programs for millions of Americans, yet both are heading toward insolvency because political leaders would rather protect their careers than protect the people they serve. The math is not complicated. Fewer workers support more retirees and the result is an unsustainable model. Instead of pretending everything is fine, we outline reforms that strengthen and preserve these programs while protecting current seniors and giving younger workers real ownership of their retirement for the first time. Leadership requires honesty, and it requires the courage to admit what is failing so we can fix it.
The same failure of leadership is evident at the border. A nation cannot survive if it refuses to control who enters, and yet that is exactly where the United States stood before President Trump restored order. As the numbers show, a determined administration can secure the border, but without permanent legislative fixes everything can be undone by the next administration. This is why Part 2 of the New Contract with America demands mandatory E Verify, the end of catch and release, stronger asylum standards, and a merit based legal immigration system that prioritizes skills, assimilation, and loyalty to the United States. Immigration must serve America’s needs, not the agendas of foreign governments or activist groups.
These reforms are not about politics. They are about securing the foundations of a free and prosperous nation. When we address the structural failures threatening Social Security, Medicare, and immigration, we do more than solve isolated issues. We restore the American ideal of responsibility, sovereignty, and self determination. Part 2 of the New Contract with America lays out a realistic and achievable path forward, but only if the American people demand that Washington finally put country over politics. The solutions exist. The question is whether we have the will to act.
