A New Contract With America: Real Solutions That Fix the Country
For far too long, Americans have been conditioned to believe that government is the solution to every problem. When something breaks, Washington promises to fix it. When a crisis emerges, the federal bureaucracy insists that only it has the expertise to respond. The result has been a steady expansion of government power, ballooning debt, declining competence, and a growing sense that the people who run the system are completely unaccountable to the citizens they are supposed to serve. In this episode of The P.A.S. Report, I present a New Contract with America that rejects this mindset and returns to the founding principles that made this country strong. These solutions are not theoretical. They are realistic, practical, and based on common sense. Most importantly, they do not require massive new spending or more government control.
The first part of this New Contract focuses on restoring accountability and ending the political weaponization of federal agencies. Trust in government has collapsed because the institutions that once served the public now protect themselves instead. Executive agencies routinely abuse authority, mislead Congress, and punish whistleblowers who speak out. At the same time, federal spending continues to spiral out of control, with waste, fraud, and abuse costing taxpayers hundreds of billions each year. My proposals address these failures head-on through independent audits, clawbacks of improper payments, the elimination of performance incentives that encourage misconduct, and legal consequences for officials who violate their oath. These reforms cost nothing, yet they radically change the incentives inside government. Abuse loses power. Integrity is restored.
Another major theme of the episode is the need to return to a true system of federalism. States should not be dependent on Washington for a quarter of their budgets. When the federal government dictates how states must spend money, local priorities are pushed aside and voters lose control over their communities. By restructuring federal grants, devolving decision-making authority, and banning coercive funding practices, we reestablish the sovereignty of states and empower citizens at the local level. Alongside this, I offer a set of solutions that help rebuild self-reliance among individuals. America cannot thrive when millions are stuck in systems that punish work and reward dependency. Gradual benefit phase-outs, clear work and training requirements, and investments in skills development create a pathway toward independence, dignity, and purpose.
Finally, the episode tackles the high cost of healthcare and the collapse of the education system. Both are areas where government intervention has made things worse, not better. Healthcare costs continue to rise because prices are hidden and there is almost no real competition. Radical price transparency, expanded Health Savings Accounts, and the promotion of direct primary care put power back into the hands of patients. Our education reforms are just as important. Schools should focus on literacy, math, American history, civics, and real-life skills. Students should graduate with financial literacy, practical competence, and a strong understanding of the country they will inherit. When you put all these reforms together, the vision becomes clear. This New Contract with America strengthens families, restores self-governance, and realigns the country with the principles that made it the greatest nation in human history.
