CNN’s Dana Bash Interview Does Little to Uncover Kamala Harris’ Position on the Issues
After being thrust into the presidential candidacy following Democrat’s pressure on Biden to drop out of the race, Kamala Harris has faced a growing demand to release her policy platform as a potential President of the United States of America. Facilitated, ironically, by the press, she has managed to evade scrutiny, offering only mediocre and heavily scripted campaign speeches, leaving the American people scratching their heads, wondering – what does this woman actually believe in?
Finally, after over a month of avoiding the press as the democrat nominee, Kamala Harris agreed to sit down for an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash. Sure, it’s a partisan organization with a deeply biased “journalist” – Bash has made her dislike of Trump and her support for Harris shamelessly obvious – but it was something. Many of us understood that hard-hitting journalism was a lot to ask for with this interview, but what was striking was how uncomfortable the VP seemed in friendly territory.
Harris, along with her security blanket and running mate, Tim Waltz, sat down in a pre-recorded interview on an oddly arranged set, where Kamala sat hunched over a table appearing awkward and insecure. It is important to note that the chyron was erroneously labeled as live – I’m sure this was just an innocent mistake on the part of CNN. Also, to fill the gaps between Bash’s weak line of questioning, the once trusted media corporation composed video montages that would seem as if Harris’ own campaign had orchestrated them. Perhaps they did. Would it shock you at this point?
The first question proposed to the current Vice President is what she would do on day one. In response, Kamala stated that she would strengthen the middle class and claimed that she had “already laid out a number of proposals in that regard.” Really? Other than government price controls – a well-established failed socialist policy – and giving away $25,000 to some new home buyers, Harris has done little to explain her economic plan for our country. In fact, her website is still void of any general or specific policy prescriptions for the nation.
Dana Bash continued cautiously, asking the VP to explain why she has changed where she stands on the issues. This would include saying she’s explicitly against fracking to saying she won’t ban fracking as president – a stance that is essential to win Pennsylvania. She’s also flip-flopped on border security, crime, and other crucial issues plaguing America. This was a critical question because the voters need to understand the basic principles which she aligns herself with. Harris ridiculously doubled down that her “values have not changed.” What was bizarre was that Dana Bash offered Kamala a list of potential answers before allowing her to respond to the question. Take a moment to watch the short clip here.
The rest of the interview continued with vague answers and the quintessential Kamala word salad or two. The viewer was not graced with any substantive responses. In between CNN’s infomercials for Kamala, the interview seemed rather short; however, there are reports that it actually lasted approximately 45 minutes, however CNN, pressured by the Harris campaign, cut it down to just 24 minutes. CNN denies this claim but refuses to release the full transcript and the unedited interview.
Voting for Kamala Harris for president is a risky undertaking. There’s been a continued attempt by the media to convince the American electorate to ignore merit and focus on the immutable characteristics of the candidate, like gender and skin color. They make a constant and concerted effort to shift the focus for voters on what really matters in the hopes that they can influence how they cast their ballot.
It’s like a person who is lactose intolerant being subjected to a flurry of ads for ice cream. The person, tempted by the images of the tasty dessert, hastily decides to ignore their condition and devours a large bowl of ice cream. Although it seems like a good idea at first, that person soon realizes there are consequences to their actions – especially stupid actions you know are bad for you, even if they feel good at the time. This November, those in this country who are still undecided voters, should keep in mind that the constant barrage of media telling you that Kamala is good for you is just propaganda from ‘state-sponsored’ media. Kamala Harris is the ice cream – it may taste good at first, but there will be dire consequences if you ignore your gut. Pun intended.
