Intro
Welcome to The PAS Report Podcast. This is your host Nick Giordano.
Today we celebrate Memorial Day, and I always find it awkward that people will say Happy Memorial Day because it is a somber holiday. As many around the country will be firing up their grills, it’s important to remember why Memorial Day is a national holiday. It’s to give praise and thanks to all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this country. It’s to honor those men and women in uniform for their selflessness and dedication. While we do celebrate Memorial Day to honor those who serve our great nation, I also believe it’s in honor of anyone who has died defending our freedoms and fighting to preserve our natural liberties.
So, it’s really important that we understand why we celebrate this day. Many of us have lost sight of the true meaning of Memorial Day. Sadly, this Memorial Day is different. Fleet Week in New York didn’t take place this year, and many parades around the country have been canceled. When we look at this day to honor the fallen, remember how we have overcome so much throughout our history. As the lockdowns begin to ease in several parts of the country, I can assure you that we will overcome the Coronavirus.
In honor of what all these brave people fought for throughout American History, I am glad to bring on Dennis Saffran. Dennis is an appellate attorney. He is also a legal, political, and public policy writer. His writings can be found in the Wall Street Journal, The Federalist, National Review Online, the New York Post, and many more. He has litigated constitutional and municipal law cases.
