Episode Description
When it comes to America’s national security, most people think of the obvious- energy grids, water supply systems, and espionage by foreign governments. Unfortunately, too many ignore the role of academia within the national security arena. As enrollment continues to decline, Americans should be extremely concerned with a growing trend and how our graduate-level degree programs are potentially harming our national security.

Education and National Security
Welcome to The P.A.S. Report Podcast.
I have another great episode lined up. I want to talk about two things when it comes to Higher Education. The first is what American students can learn from the protests in China. The second is an issue that gets very little attention. While I’ve often spoken and criticized our public education, I never did an episode connecting academia to America’s national security.
When it comes to America’s national security, most people think of the obvious- energy grids, water supply systems, and espionage by foreign governments.
However, recent developments and a continued trend are showing that many universities are wittingly and unwittingly harming America’s national security.
Many of you know that I have been teaching for quite some time, but before I began teaching full-time, I worked in the emergency management arena for several years. Part of my functions included conducting risk and threat assessments.
I also worked as a contractor for the feds for nearly a decade conducting national security background investigations. These cases centered around security clearances, and most of the cases I worked on required further scrutiny due to several issues being present in the casework.
So, when it comes to America’s national security and academia, I am well-equipped to discuss this topic. Unfortunately, too many ignore the role of education within the national security arena.
However, this is an issue worthy of discussion due to the various implications it has on America and our national security.
There will be those who come out there who will accuse me of exaggerating the threat, but understand, most of these people look at issues in the most simplistic of ways. They lack the ability to think critically, and they view everything through the prism of black and white where most issues operate in gray areas, and this is one of those issues.
