I hope you had a happy and safe Fourth of July. Just a reminder to check out my July 4th piece at Campus Reform where I explain how the left has hijacked the historical narrative. Oversimplifying our history and reducing it to a simplistic narrative of oppressor vs. oppressed.
Understand that this is done intentionally. Reducing our founding and the founders to the evils of racism and slavery undermines everything they created, including the Declaration and the Constitution. And that’s the point. It is much easier to push change when the foundation of the nation is discredited and delegitimized. They want to portray the system as irredeemably flawed and in the words of former President Obama “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”
Just look at how many are trying to delegitimize the Supreme Court after last week’s rulings. From Congresswoman AOC to Senator Schumer to President Biden himself, the attacks on the Supreme Court are not based on the principles of the Constitution, they are based on politics, and many obliterate the separation of powers destroying the safeguard of checks and balances.
So where am I going with all this? Well, it’s really what I have been focusing on the last few weeks. The abuses of power within the system, and how power is being centralized into this massive federal apparatus. I had a great conversation with George Hill, whistleblower and retired FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst, on Monday- if you haven’t listened to that episode, I suggest you do.
In that episode, we focused a lot on where we went so wrong and how the reaction to 9/11 served as the impetus for the surveillance state through this idea of Homeland Security, and that’s what I want to discuss in this episode.
I want to focus on how Homeland Security has veered far beyond its original purpose, morphing into a force that violates the very Constitution it was meant to protect, and how the concept of security has been twisted into an assault on individual freedoms.
This episode seems really fitting in light of Independence Day because our founding fathers’ worst nightmares have come to fruition, and we have to confront the startling resemblance between Homeland Security’s practices and George Orwell’s dystopian masterpiece, 1984.
