Intro
Welcome to a special bonus episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast. This is your host Nick Giordano and I hope you enjoyed the week.
I wanted to do a quick recap of how the 2020 Democrat Primary race completely transformed this week because a lot of interesting things happened, including behind the scenes, that the media isn’t talking about.

South Carolina
Before we get to Super Tuesday, it’s important to realize that the race changed on Saturday night when Joe Biden had a dominant performance in South Carolina.
There are reports that President Obama spoke with Mayor Pete. Do you think it’s a coincidence that Mayor Pete drops out of the race and endorses Joe Biden? Mayor Pete had every right to stay in the race because at that point, he won one state, Joe Biden won one state, and Bernie won two states.
However, I can imagine the conversation that went on and this is what happens in politics. Plenty of jockeying behind the scenes. I would love to know what Mayor Pete was offered. I can picture the conversation. Hey Pete, you did amazing and you really raised your profile to a national level. Listen, you’re a young guy and have a bright future in the Democrat party. However, we can’t allow Bernie to win. If he wins, he can cause a lot of harm to the democrat party including jeopardizing the Democrat’s control of the house.
We need you to play ball and be a good soldier. If you bow out of the race and endorse Biden, perhaps there may be a VP slot for you. Maybe a cabinet-level position if Joe wins. I’m not saying you have to, but it would be in your best interest and the party’s best interest if you did.
Super Tuesday
It was pretty clear with Bloomberg’s pathetic debate performance, he wasn’t going to succeed, and most of Mayor Pete and Klobuchar’s support would go to Biden, and that’s exactly how it played out. While everyone is praising Biden as the comeback kid, the reality is we would be talking about an amazing night for Bernie Sanders had those two not dropped out of the race at the perfect time.
Just look at what Elizabeth Warren did to Bernie Sanders. While in many places, Elizabeth Warren and Bloomberg canceled each other out, there were a few states she made all the difference. So, Joe Biden won 10 states, and Bernie won 4 states.
However, if we look at the following states, these states would have easily gone to Bernie. While Bernie would not have received all of Warren’s supporters, he certainly would have received 75-80%.
- Maine, Biden total came in at 34.14%, Sanders at 32.89%, and Warren received 15.73%. Without Warren, Sanders would most likely be over the 45% mark dominating Biden.
- Massachusetts, Biden received 33.65%, Sanders 26.7%, and Warren received 21.45%. Without Warren, Sanders would have easily won the state with over 50%. It is clear that Sanders and Warren split the vote.
- Minnesota, Biden had 38.61%, Sanders had 29.89%, and Warren received 15.41%. Again, without Warren, Sanders would have most likely won.
So, without Warren, Sanders would have easily won these contests, and potentially Texas. If that was the case, then Biden would have won 6 states and Bernie would have won 8 states.
But that’s politics and shows you how quickly things can change. Biden overperformed, not because he was a good candidate, but because the establishment coalesced behind him. Bernie underperformed.
The Aftermath
It’s funny how the media and the elite political pundits all declared Biden’s campaign dead in the water, and by Wednesday they were making it as if Biden is unstoppable. So, let’s examine the aftermath.
While many are saying that Biden is the frontrunner, the reality is there is no frontrunner. It’s now a two-man race, with two old white guys which is ironic coming from a party that preaches diversity and women empowerment.
Establishment coalesces around Biden
In order to understand Biden’s over-performance in Super Tuesday, all you have to do is look at the numbers and current events to see the Biden bounce. It has nothing to do with what Biden did. It has everything to do with events and other people.
Remember, Biden was supposed to be the shoo-in for the nomination. Then when he entered the race, the gaffes started immediately. But many in the establishment weren’t worried. It’s Joe, he always makes gaffes.
Towards the end of September, Biden’s numbers began to drop. Think to yourself, what else started at the end of September? Well, it was the impeachment, and you couldn’t talk about impeachment without bringing up Hunter and Joe Biden.
Impeachment was the central focus of media coverage all the way through the first week of February. As impeachment was the central focus, so were the Biden’s. The first week of February, the Republicans voted not to remove President Trump from office, and the impeachment story went away, which means the coverage of the Biden’s dealings and possible corruption also went away.
The destruction of Bloomberg two weeks later, along with Mayor Pete and Senator Klobuchar dropping out of the race, all but guaranteed that Biden would do well.
Let’s be honest, Joe Biden’s win was due to a lack of alternatives, rather than Biden being a strong candidate. His win does not eliminate his deficiencies as a candidate even though he may very well end up the Democrat nominee.
Does Bernie have a chance?
While I may give the edge to Biden, we have to remember that just because he won, it doesn’t erase the fact he is a bad candidate. It’s not like the gaffes will stop and all of a sudden he will become this amazing speaker putting together more than two coherent sentences at a time.
However, I am not sure Bernie will exploit Biden’s weaknesses. I am having flashbacks to 2016 all over again. Hillary Clinton’s weakness was her inauthenticity and the email scandal. Bernie refused to attack her over her emails, and that maybe what led him to lose the nomination. In fact, after getting railroaded by Clinton and the DNC, Bernie still played nice with them. I would have been bitter and resentful as hell.
I can see the same thing happening with Biden. His biggest weakest is nepotism and corruption, and Americans don’t like it when elected officials’ families are enriched because of the position they hold. This is exactly the corruption that Bernie talks about, yet he said he wouldn’t attack Biden. The American people say they hate negative politics, but the fact is that negative politics works, and if you want to win elections, you have to be willing to slit your opponent’s throat. I do not mean that literally for all the leftists out there.
Closing
I don’t believe that there is any doubt that President Trump will go on the attack. While people try to mock and make fun of President Trump, he is one of the most politically cunning figures I have ever analyzed. The guy is a political animal. You don’t take down the Bushes and the Clinton’s, the two most powerful political families, perhaps in American history, by being an idiot.
