Episode Description
Michael Gray joins The P.A.S. Report podcast to discuss how the opioid crisis plaguing the United States and how it goes far beyond a public health emergency. The paradigm has shifted when it comes to the opioid crisis, yet government has not modified its approach and adapted to the changing landscape. Due to Michael’s own personal experience, he created the Actus Foundation in an effort to raise public awareness and educate elected officials who fail to recognize the paradigm shift. The opioid crisis is no longer a public health emergency. It is now a national security risk and it has not received the attention it deserves throughout this election cycle.

Intro
Welcome everyone to another episode of The PAS Report Podcast.
I keep saying that 2020 couldn’t get any crazier then, on Friday, the President tweets out that he and the First Lady both tested positive for the coronavirus. I said it before and I will say it again, this is the craziest election year I have ever witnessed in my lifetime, and I think it may be the craziest in history.
Anyone who tells you they can predict how this election is going to go is fooling themselves. The normal rules for predicting an election are out the window, and there are so many variables that we have never witnessed before, it is impossible to know. Given everything that has happened in 2020, this election is the most unpredictable, and anything is possible.
In any event, I’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide you with an update on Wednesday. For this episode, I am bringing in Michael Gray. Michael has an important message because he suffered the worst possible loss any parent can imagine, and that was the loss of his daughter, Amanda.
Following the tragic loss of Amanda, he started the Actus Foundation. He recognized that the opioid crisis is being incorrectly labeled as a public health crisis. He realized that the paradigm shifted and there was something much more nefarious going on. Like his daughter, Michael met with many other families who suffered the same loss. A child, who has no substance abuse issues, who weren’t addicts, succumbed to the opioid epidemic. The questions are how and why?

Closing
What an important topic, and I am so glad that Michael was able to join us today. We need to recognize that the opioid crisis is a national security crisis, not a public health emergency. Our society children are being destroyed from within. We have to stop relying on old models and began to take a much more creative approach when it comes to combating synthetic opioid, and like many things, the Communist government of China needs to be held accountable for distributing these powerful and deadly substances throughout the world.
Sadly, this isn’t even being discussed in this election, when in reality, it should be one of the top issues. Hopefully, this reaches the candidates and they begin to discuss this national security issue. I also hope that our politicians wake the hell up to what’s really going on, and begin to develop policies that effectively tackle this war.
In any event, I encourage everyone to visit the Actus Foundation at https://actus.org. You can also check out the foundation on Facebook. You can also follow Michael on Facebook as well.
