It has now been three years since the Biden administration unveiled the National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism. I warned about the real intent of the document when it was first released in June of 2021. You can check out episode 186 where I go through the document line by line. I have a link up in the show notes of this episode so you can check it out on the website.
I explained how it’s a document that targets political opposition and declares any type of government criticism or dissent as extremism. I warned about the far-reaching consequences this document will have on our political system and how the National Strategy ushers in a new authoritarian period where seemingly normal and long-standing political positions will be branded extremist.
I explained how this document violates our civil liberties and opens the door for even worse government abuses than we’ve already been subjected to. How the National Strategy undermines liberty and the intent of the system.
Look at the terminology throughout the document that’s never defined and is intentionally left vague so the bureaucrats in power can apply it any way they see fit. Take how they state that those who express anti-government and anti-authority sentiment have the potential to be domestic violent extremists (DVEs).
They never define what constitutes anti-government or anti-authority sentiment, and I want to remind the audience that it doesn’t say anti-American sentiment. You can bash the country all day long. Just look at the anti-American, anti-Israel protestors that openly chant ‘Death to America’ and call for intifada. According to the National Strategy, that’s fine and protected under the First Amendment.
However, Are you aware that your mildest government criticism could land you on a watchlist? It could put you on the government’s radar. I explained how they intentionally never define the word incitement. Even if you do nothing wrong, you can be targeted for incitement based on what you say or post.
I explored each of the four pillars in the National Strategy where each pillar talks about what the government will do in order to “prevent” domestic terrorism, and pillar 4 is where we see the attempted criminalization of long-standing and widely accepted political beliefs.
While the Biden administration is the one that published the National Strategy, it was never really about him. It was always about the bureaucracy. Remember, I constantly remind the audience that the bureaucracy will remain long after any one person.
Unfortunately, those warnings fell on deaf ears. Most people are unaware that this document even exists. Most in the media, even Conservative media, ignored this document and did not give it the attention it deserved despite the evidence of how this Strategy would be used against them.
And as far as I’m aware, Congress, particularly the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, has yet to hold a single hearing on the National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism.
In any event, now that we are three years out, I want to revisit the National Strategy as I have done several times. Many of you may not be aware, but America First Legal put out two press releases. One on June 20th and another on June 21st. They just released a bunch of documents from the now-disbanded Homeland Intelligence Experts Group that included James Clapper and John Brennan on this advisory committee.
So today, we are going to do a deep dive, examine what’s happened since the release of the National Strategy, what America First Legal uncovered, and where we go from here. Hang tight everyone and we will be right back.
