Report, Professor Giordano shifts the spotlight to a critical examination of the ever-growing surveillance state and the all-powerful government, revealing how both parties are not immune to wielding power and control. While Professor Giordano often scrutinizes the Democrats, this episode delves into how some Republicans also contribute to the expansion of government power, and with the exception of Senator Rand Paul and a few others, most do not believe in limited government. Unveiling the alarming trend of politicians embracing the surveillance apparatus and endorsing censorship, the episode challenges the audience to question the erosion of personal liberties and the need to protect individual freedoms in an age where the government’s reach knows no bounds.

Welcome to The P.A.S. Report Podcast
Today, we’re delving into a pressing issue that transcends party lines—the ever-expanding all-powerful government and the surveillance state. The extent to which our government has encroached upon our liberties is alarming and the real question becomes why aren’t the American people more outraged about this. In fact, rather than demand limited government, ordinary Americans are willingly ceding their power and authority to the government.
As regular listeners know, I’ve never shied away from critiquing our government, the rise of censorship, and the weaponization of our institutions. Typically, I’ve focused on the Democrats’ role in these trends, but today, we’re going to explore a different angle.
We’re going to examine how some Republicans, traditionally associated with limited government and individual freedoms, seem to have no qualms about embracing the ever-growing power of the government. Always remember, that it was a Republican president that pushed through the largest expansion of government in our history.
Throughout history, the struggle for freedom has always been an ongoing battle. The fight against oppressive governments that infringe upon our basic rights has been at the heart of many pivotal moments in human civilization. From the Magna Carta to the American Revolution and countless other movements. When you look at the American system, how many have valiantly given their lives to secure liberty and maintain our freedoms?
The Founding Fathers laid the groundwork for a nation built on the principles of individual liberty, limited government, and the protection of citizens’ rights. The U.S. Constitution and its Bill of Rights were crafted with the intent of safeguarding these cherished liberties against the encroachments of power. Over the years, both Democrats and Republicans have embraced these principles and sought to defend them from erosion.
Republicans and Limited Government
However, not anymore. We have a five-alarm fire. The expansion of government power, surveillance programs, and the rise of censorship have raised serious questions about the commitment of both political parties to upholding the rights of the people they have sworn to serve.
It’s frustrating to witness how certain government agencies have been involved in surveillance practices that blur the lines between legitimate national security interests and the violation of individual privacy. Programs like the NSA’s Prism program and the CIA’s data collection efforts on Americans, the Postal Service’s ICOP program, the FBI’s illegal access of the NSA repository, and the hundreds of thousands of illegal FISA queries.
These agencies have tested the limits of public trust and abuses of power are evident. They underscore the need for transparent oversight and accountability mechanisms.
But the most frustrating thing is that those people with the power of oversight, the ones we elect to Congress, could care less about limited government and the abuses of power we have been subjected to. That’s what bothers me the most. That and how so many ordinary Americans seem to have no problem with the government abuses.
As citizens, we have a responsibility to be vigilant and engaged, holding our elected representatives accountable for their actions and pushing for reforms that prioritize the protection of our rights above all else.
The fight for liberty and the defense of our cherished freedoms requires a united front to ensure that the government remains a servant of the people and not the other way around.
I want to focus on how Republicans seem to be justifying the surveillance state and the ever-expanding powers of the federal government. Furthermore, we’ll talk about the motivations behind their alignment with government censorship.
