Episode Description
Milton Friedman warned that we “cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state,” yet this is precisely what the Biden administration has given us. In this episode of the P.A.S. Report podcast, Professor Nick Giordano explains the depths of the crisis, as well as the repercussions of open borders and a welfare state. We are witnessing the intentional erosion of the concept of citizenship. Consider that the Biden administration’s open border could end up costing taxpayers $451 billion per year.

Today, I want to talk about the Biden administration’s open borders because it is a complete dereliction of duty. This topic is especially important given that the House Republicans are taking the initial steps to impeach the current DHS secretary. While Secretary Mayorkas is utterly incompetent, you cannot impeach an official because they are incompetent. However, you can impeach him for perjury given the fact that he has testified in front of Congress several times declaring our border secure.
This imbecile has created a disaster, and while he may deserve to be impeached, it would be mostly a symbolic move because I don’t see 2/3rds of the Senate voting to remove Mayorkas from his position.
However, his failed leadership and the failed leadership of this entire administration have created an untenable situation.
I want to bring up Milton Friedman because he once warned, that we “cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.” Talk about how hauntingly relevant his words are in today’s America. In this episode, I want to dissect this warning, adding in the enormous military-industrial complex, our $34 trillion debt, as well as how the concept of citizenship is being destroyed.
The Biden administration, in its pursuit of the most progressive agenda the United States has ever witnessed, has willingly created a crisis. They know it, we know it, but they don’t care because it is part of a much larger agenda.
We now find ourselves grappling with the implications of his open borders, the growing welfare state, and our $34 trillion national debt. This combination is unsustainable. I will guide you through the layers of this crisis, exploring how our value as citizens is being diminished and how we are on a path that will not only transform this country but will inevitably push America closer toward bankruptcy.
If you think that’s an exaggeration, let’s put the warnings into tangible terms. $451 billion per year and counting. That’s the potential cost to taxpayers. This is more than half of what we spend on Defense. It’s more than half of our total spending on education each year. And when I say total spending, I am talking about federal, state, and local spending on education.
Why aren’t more people outraged by this? When we are talking about $451 billion per year, this is a number that should anger every one of us. Especially given how American and permanent residents are struggling under Bidenomics and the disaster of the Biden administration’s open border policies.
Think about it this way. If we take that $451 billion amount, add the $111 billion we have provided to Ukraine, and another $65 billion to Ukraine that is currently being debated, we are talking about a trillion taxpayer dollars in two years.
This is insane. At what point do we ask what is the government’s responsibility and obligations to its citizens? What is the social contract between citizens and the state? Every one of us should be insulted as the people in charge have abandoned all sense of public service, and the overlords have shown complete disregard for how they spend our money.
And yes, it is our money. The government does not generate its revenues. All of its revenues are derived from us. Whether it’s through individual taxes, business taxes, fees, permits, or fines, it’s from us.
What is the point of citizenship when you can get better benefits coming to America illegally? What is the worth of citizenship?
Citizenship is not merely a legal status; it’s a concept deeply intertwined with rights, responsibilities, and a shared sense of the American identity. But we are witnessing how the concept of citizenship is being erased. The erasure of this concept, as we witness today, raises profound questions about the nature of our society and the values we hold dear.
To understand the potential financial impact, let’s examine the $451 billion figure looming over the horizon. This isn’t just a statistic; it represents a substantial burden on the shoulders of hardworking taxpayers. How did we arrive at this staggering number, and what does it signify for the economic well-being of our nation? I’ll break down the calculations, dissecting the cost-benefit analysis that underpins this eye-watering estimate.
We must rise above the partisan noise. It shouldn’t matter whether you are a Democrat or Republican. This impacts us all and the consequences of the choices we make as a society have real consequences.
We will get into it all when we get back from this break.
