Episode Description
After nearly two years, our children can finally breathe freely as the mask mandates get dropped. Is it any surprise that they were dropped before President Biden’s State of the Union address? Also, Professor Giordano focuses on the current happenings in the Russia-Ukrainian war? Did Putin underestimate the Ukrainians? Has he miscalculated? Why are so many Republicans and Democrats calling for America to engage with Russia militarily? Professor Giordano answers all these questions. The episode wraps up with an interview from CPAC 2022 with Sammy from Bikers for Trump and Joe the Box from the America First Warehouse.

Intro
What’s up, everyone? Welcome to The P.A.S. Report. I had a great time at CPAC 2022. There were a lot of great people. I had some great meetings and did some interviews that I’ll be playing over the next couple of weeks.
I’ll tell you; the energy was phenomenal. You felt the enthusiasm and people are ready for change. By every metric people are dissatisfied. And it’s not just Republicans or Independents, it’s Democrats too.
The reality is that people in America are not fringe radical leftists. Most people in America don’t want communism or socialism. And while CPAC is a Republican/Conservative conference, most Americans just want to be left alone. They don’t want the government involved with every aspect of their lives. They don’t want to be pushed, coerced or intimidated. They simply want to live their lives.
In any event, I’m going to talk about the change in mask mandates and the Russian Ukrainian War. Depending on the time, I may play one or two of the interviews I did at CPAC. I’ll have more next week, but there are a lot of important things going on.

Awake, Not Woke
Biden State of the Union
Biden gave his State of the Union address. I may put out a quick episode on Friday to break it down, but it was pretty much what I expected.
Our Children Can Finally Breathe
Before I get to the Russian Ukrainian War I want to start off today with a really important development because it’s finally happened, and those in New York must give thanks and praise to our glorious and righteous Governor. Our dear leader. The empress herself. She finally announced that the kids can take off their masks starting Wednesday.
Sure, you’ll complain that this should have happened long ago. You’ll complain that our saviors never really followed the science. You’ll complain that the damage is already done. You’ll complain that most states did this a long time ago and that there is no statistical difference between schools with masking vs. schools without.
But what you don’t realize is that because of her brave and bold leadership, being one of a handful of states that still had this tyrannical decree, but because of her leadership, she can rest easy knowing she saved countless lives of the children who already had a 99.96% or 99.97% survival rate from the coronavirus, and where we know that community spread is really low in schools.
See, a lot of you, who are part of the ungrateful peasant class, you just don’t understand how lucky you are to have an unelected Governor who has kept our children masked up for so long.
On a serious note, this is a mandate that should have never been decreed in the first place, and we must never let this happen again. Now that the decree has been lifted, we can’t just go back to our lives as if nothing has happened.
Trust me, a new bar has now been set, and they will attempt to take it even further in the next crisis. That’s where we come in. We have to keep standing up to the authoritarians who think they can do whatever the hell they want. That they can disregard the Constitution and all norms. That they can render state legislative bodies irrelevant.
It’s up to us to make sure a proper balance is restored. And I want to give a shout-out to a number of groups that fought hard for children, our Constitution, and our liberty. You had the Loud Majority, Moms for Liberty, Show Me Your Face, Unmask Our Children, and a number of other organizations that stood up for the kids. So, let’s keep it going.

Update on Russian Ukraine War
Moving onto the next topic, Obviously, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has sucked all the oxygen within news coverage, and it is important to pay attention to what’s happening because as I tell my students, what happens around the world ultimately affects us here at home, and this conflict has significant implications for the United States and the global power structure. While this is a Russian Ukrainian War, a European conflict, my concern is, and always will be, what’s in the best interest of the United States.
Taking a look at the conflict, Russia is having a much more difficult time than they anticipated, and the Ukrainians are certainly putting up a fight. I don’t think people know how much of a big deal this week. And I want you to take a listen to what I said two weeks ago.
Play sound clip- 2 weeks ago
In theory, this should have been a cakewalk given Russia’s superior military, but as I said two weeks ago talking about conflict and being in a real war are two different things and it’s a much different story when soldiers are losing limbs and coming home in body bags.
Also, history is replete with examples of countries underestimating each other and when conflict begins you have the unpredictable nature of war. All plans go out the window. It’s like President Eisenhower said, “In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable.”
The Russian Ukrainian War may end up being a huge embarrassment to Putin. Consider this, in 20yrs of war in Afghanistan, we lost about 2,700 soldiers. In about 8 or 9 years of war in Iraq, we lost approximately 4,500. In one week, 7 days, there are estimates that Putin has lost about 4,500 troops. That’s an extraordinary amount.
Real-world combat experience matters, and we are witnessing why it matters. Our military has been engaged in conflict throughout the 80s and the 90s so we had soldiers who were battle-hardened. We worked out the kinks in supply chain logistics and resupplying troops in the theater of war. Most Russian soldiers, today, have never been in a kinetic war and we are seeing the result.
Putin is now toxic in the international community. And you have to respect the sheer grit and will of the Ukrainian people and President Zelenski. Leaders lead and that’s what he’s doing.
With that being said, everyone should be aware of the realities. Russia still has the dominant military. Listen, the will of the Ukrainians is inspiring. I’m not going to lie, and I’m also not going to romanticize the war like many are doing. Ukraine has also sustained major losses and they will only be able to hold for so long. War brings death, misery, and suffering. Yet, you have so many morons sitting in their elite ruling class chairs, cheering it on.
But it is much tougher than Putin anticipated, and that’s a good thing. I think he will regret his decision, but don’t be under any illusion that he’s magically going to end the conflict. It’s only been a week, and many think the war should be over.
Understand the role hubris plays in politics, and he will not walk away from the Russian Ukrainian War all that easily. A problem is that he doesn’t want the thing he fears most…being perceived as weak. So, I expect more death and destruction.
Ultimately, this was a gross miscalculation on Putin’s part, which is a little surprising given how strategic he’s been throughout his entire career. I’ll tell you one thing though, if the Ukrainians can keep it up, the Biden administration would have caught a huge break.
Unfortunately, the damage is already done, and this still has the potential to expand. As Putin is further isolated in the international community, he may lash out more.
Putin may also be in trouble domestically as the Russian economy starts to tank. We are already seeing the discontent of the Russian people. There are protests happening. There are reports that the United States has seen a surge in visa requests for Russians to the United States. We are seeing the Russian people make a run-on Russian banks. We are witnessing the collapse of the Russian stock market and their currency, the ruble. People’s savings are being wiped out. The only question is how much the Russian people will take before they get really mad, especially considering that this was an offensive war.
This should be a lesson to every world leader that you better be careful and think twice before engaging in an offensive war. While conflict is always brutal, there is a silver lining. China is watching very closely, and they have to be concerned. It may lead them to rethink their military posture regarding Taiwan. Don’t forget, Russia’s military hasn’t been in a kinetic war since 1980 with Afghanistan. For China, it’s been even longer. The last real war they were in was probably the civil war where Mao took over the country so you’re talking about 80-years. They certainly aren’t battle-hardened. Hopefully, they think twice.
I also find it amazing. Putin is a monster. We know that. He is like a mob boss, but you notice how those constantly calling Putin a monster remain silent about the Chinese communist regime and Xi Jinping. They don’t dare speak of the brutalities of the CCP, and that should tell you a lot.
Another good is that Europe is united for the first time in a long time, and they recognize have they’ve failed for the last few decades. They are beginning to realize that their militaries have been so ignored over the years, that they are now aware at their lack of preparedness. With the exception of France, Britain, and Poland, most militaries in Europe aren’t all that strong, and many countries decided to cut funding to their militaries in order to give their people really generous social benefits.
Now they are beginning to announce that they are reinvesting in their militaries. That they realize how vulnerable they really are. How defenseless they are. A number of countries have announced that they will now invest more in their militaries and won’t just put the burden on the United States. That they have a shared responsibility for their own defenses. So, that’s good too.
We Haven’t Begun to See the Effects
I also want you to know that we haven’t begun to see the effects of this war, but we will be feeling it shortly. We’ve already seen gas prices go up, and the analysts expect that to continue. With that will come price increases for everything else, including necessities like food.
People’s economies are already stretched thin, now it will be even harder. We are likely to see a massive increase in refugees throughout Europe and here in the United States. We are likely to see more instability within the international community. With most attention focusing on the Russian-Ukrainian war, what aren’t we paying attention to? Keep that in mind.

Many in the Political Class and the Media Class Are Insane
If the situation wasn’t worrying enough, if you’ve been watching the media coverage of the conflict, and listening to a lot of the politicians, both Republican and Democrat, you come to realize how insane these people really are. Many of them are openly advocating for the United States to engage Russia militarily. To bomb Russian brigades, to take out Russian defense systems, implement no-fly zones over Ukraine, and shoot down Russian fighter jets.
Basically, they are talking about going to war with Russia. These people should be nowhere near positions of power. Think about what they are talking about. From 1945 to 1991, throughout the Cold War, we were able to prevent conflict with a major military power. Nuclear power. That’s when we had actual thinkers in office. People who clearly understood the risk vs. rewards, and the massive amount of death, destruction, and despair a war with the Soviets would bring. They understood that war with the Soviets guarantees mutually assured destruction (MAD).
Yet today, we have all these political hacks, not only encouraging war with the Russians, but they say anyone who is against a potential conflict is a traitor. Saying it nearly amounts to treason. Only a matter of time before they start throwing out the domestic terrorism label.
These people have no idea of what the consequences will be. Sorry, but any sane person would take a look at this and say the risk vs. reward calculation simply doesn’t make sense. That the risks of a potential nuclear conflict far outweigh overthrowing the Putin regime.
But they don’t care because to them, they are the moral holy warriors. The public virtue signalers who believe they are the guardians of democracy. Ironically, many of these same people had no problems completely disregarding democracy, Constitutional norms, and the whole concept of liberty, over the last two years.
It really is frustrating to watch, especially knowing that there are many who will buy into this crap. Anyone calling for a direct kinetic war with Russia is a moron and has no clue how quickly it will spiral out of control.
And people should be asking, what would be the endgame. Let’s say America militarily engages in Russia. Then what? What are our strategic goals and objectives? What would the purpose be? Would it be to get Russia’s forces out of Ukraine? Would it be regime change? Would we be nation-building? Shouldn’t these be some of the questions we ask our moral holy warriors? Would the risk of nuclear war be in our strategic interests?
At what point do we realize how thoroughly unfit these people are for office. Look at how many difficulties we had in Iraq and Afghanistan. Times Afghanistan and Iraq by 100, and that’s what a war with Russia would be.
Closing
We need to be very careful in the policy decisions we make because the consequences are real. They can have a disastrous impact. We need to put in policies that are in the best interests of the United States and the American people. When deciding on policies, it should be the first question asked. How does this policy benefit the United States and the American people?
It’s about the ordinary Americans who continue to get ignored. Where their concerns are brushed aside. The forgotten middle class. And at CPAC, I caught up with some of the forgotten Americans who some would like to declare domestic terrorists. I interviewed Sammy from Bikers for Trump and Joe the Box America’s First Warehouse. Two great patriots. Take a listen.
