Episode 96 Show Notes- Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder ║ The P.A.S. Report
Episode Description
Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder comes to the P.A.S. Report podcast to discuss how policing has changed since the start of 2020. While the media, organized groups, and even some elected officials continue to demonize the police, Commissioner Ryder explains how the brave law enforcement officers continue to do their jobs. Between bail reform, the coronavirus lockdowns, the death of George Floyd, as well as the protests and increasing violence, Commissioner Ryder explains the challenges especially with the growing calls to defund the police. It’s time to Back the Blue and show support for those who put their lives on the line day in and day out.

Intro
Welcome everyone to another episode of The PAS Report Podcast. This is your host Nick Giordano.
With everything going on, it shocks me to see how law enforcement officers continue to be demonized by the media, organized groups, and even some elected officials. I never would have imagined that the notion of defunding the police would have actually been a serious campaign issue in 2020. Yet, here we are.
It’s clear that this major cultural revolution we are witnessing is a referendum on the concept of law and order.
This week, I am bringing in a great guest. He is someone that knows policing better than most, and someone that I consider a friend. Commissioner Patrick Ryder is a true leader who shows his officers that he stands with them. I’ve known the Commissioner since I interned for him when he led the Nassau County PD’s Asset Forfeiture Division while I was studying for my Homeland Security Degree.
He is someone who constantly brings an innovative approach to law enforcement, and his approach should be a model for police departments around the country.

Closing
I’m really grateful the Commissioner was able to take the time and speak with us today. He certainly has a lot on his plate, but as always, he rises to the challenge. We need to remember, that our first responders, whether they be police officers, firefighters, EMS, and any other response personnel, go out there each and every day and put their lives on the line. It is time that we speak loudly and back the blue. They need our support now more than ever.
I understand the tremendous amount of pressure on law enforcement throughout the country, and I want to remind all our Police Officers out there, that if you are suffering from PTSD, there is help. Detective Joe Locus started an organization to serve as a support group for officers suffering from PTSD. If you need answers or seek information you can visit PTSD.help for more information. And it’s not for just police officers. It’s for all 1st Responders. As always, I have a link up at The P.A.S. Report website.
Again, I want to thank the Commissioner for taking the time out to come to The P.A.S. Report podcast.
