Episode Description
Explore how politicians, irrespective of party lines, have grown disconnected from the needs of citizens and the nation. In this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nick Giordano explains the troubling trend of politicians and civil servants prioritizing government over people. Today, many Republicans sound like Democrats asserting that government interests should come first. This contradicts the fundamental principles America was founded on as we have deviated far from the 3 Principles of Old Republicanism.

Welcome to The P.A.S. Report Podcast
If you are a regular listener of this podcast, you know that I am a constant advocate for the principles of limited government. Throughout history, not just in America, but world history, there have been constant warnings about the dangers of an ever-expanding, all-powerful government. Not only have there been warnings, but there is undeniable evidence that as government power expands, the risk of its abuse also grows.
America’s founding changed the trajectory and altered the course of world events, igniting debates about the government’s role and the delicate balance between individual liberty and societal order. Ultimately, it would be the 3 Principles of Old Republicanism that would guide them in their efforts. First, through the Articles of Confederation, and after the Articles collapsed, the Constitution.
However, our present reality begs a critical question: have our elected officials remained true to these principles, or have they veered off-course? I think the answer is obvious.
An alarming trend has emerged. This trend cuts across party lines and includes both Democrats and Republicans. It includes the politicians and public servants. It includes the ordinary civil servants. And it’s about how they continue to increase and prioritize the interests of the government over the interests of We the People and the country as a whole.
They don’t even hide it anymore. They openly admit it and that’s what I want to focus on in this episode. Elected officials have forgotten their fundamental duty to serve the citizens and uphold our nation’s values.
The party lines have blurred and there are an awful lot of Republicans that sound like Democrats, but it isn’t only the things they say, it’s their actions as well. Even so-called champions of limited government and fiscal responsibility now echo sentiments that seem align with their supposed rivals. That’s why we see this emergence of the uniparty.
The episode investigates the implications of this convergence, examining how a mindset emphasizing government as the solution to all our ills has slowly replaced the emphasis on individual merit, personal responsibility, and limited government.
We are witnessing the results of the ramifications of prioritizing government over people and the country. We have forgotten who we are and the wisdom of the nation’s founding.
