In this episode of The P.A.S. Report, Professor Giordano exposes how the loudest defenders of “democracy” are the same voices working to dismantle the very institutions that protect our Republic. From the Senate to the Supreme Court and the Electoral College, every safeguard designed by the Founding Fathers is under attack in the name of power. Nick explains why these institutions exist, the dangers of tearing them down, and how today’s calls to abolish or reinvent them threaten the future of the United States.

The War on Our Republic: Why the Left Wants to Dismantle the Constitution
The loudest defenders of “democracy” are often the very ones working to tear down the institutions that make the United States a Republic. In recent years, calls to abolish the Senate, pack the Supreme Court, and eliminate the Electoral College have grown louder. These arguments are not coming from the fringes. They are being amplified by major media outlets and political leaders who view the Constitution itself as a roadblock to their agenda.
This movement is not about fairness or protecting democracy. It is about power. If the Constitution stands in the way of their vision, then the Constitution must be undone. The Founding Fathers understood human nature and the dangers of unchecked majority rule. That is why they created safeguards to protect liberty from both tyrants and mobs.
The Senate: A Check on Power
Critics argue the Senate is unfair because Wyoming and California each have two Senators, even though their populations are vastly different. That is true, but the Senate was never intended to be based on population. It was created to protect smaller states and to give the states themselves a voice in the federal government.
The House represents the people. The Senate represents the states. Together they balance each other. Without the Senate, a handful of large states would dominate the country and the rest would be irrelevant.
The Supreme Court: The Weakest but Most Respected Branch
In Federalist No. 78, Alexander Hamilton described the judiciary as the “least dangerous branch” because it has neither force nor will, only judgment. The Court was designed to be independent so it could uphold the Constitution without bowing to political pressure.
Calls to expand the number of justices are dangerous because they would transform the Court into a political weapon. Packing the Court to achieve certain rulings would destroy its independence and moral authority. Once that is lost, the Court would be no different from Congress or the presidency.
The Electoral College: Protecting the United States
Many Americans cannot explain how the Electoral College works, and that failure reflects how poorly our education system teaches civics. The President of the United States is not the president of the people, but the president of the states. That is why the Constitution created 51 separate elections, one in each state and Washington, D.C.
The Electoral College ensures that presidential candidates must win support across the nation rather than only in large cities. Without it, a few urban centers could determine the outcome of every election.
Critics point to rare elections where the winner of the Electoral College lost the popular vote. But out of 60 presidential elections, that has only happened four times. In 92 percent of elections, the winner carried both the Electoral College and the popular vote. That is not a broken system. That is stability.
The Electoral College also strengthens election security. Decentralizing presidential elections into 51 separate contests makes fraud and foreign interference more difficult. A single national popular vote would create one federal election that would be far easier to corrupt.
Why These Institutions Are Under Attack
The push to abolish the Senate, pack the Court, and eliminate the Electoral College is not about fixing flaws. It is about consolidating power. If one party can control these institutions, they can dominate the entire political system for generations. History shows that one-party dominance always leads to the loss of liberty.
Some of those pushing for change are motivated by ignorance of history. Others are far more deliberate, seeing the United States as a system of injustice that must be torn down and rebuilt in their own image. They do not want reform. They want control.
The Push for D.C. Statehood
The same logic applies to the push for Washington, D.C. statehood. The goal is not representation. It is about adding guaranteed Democratic seats to the House and Senate. Since 1964, Democrats have consistently won more than 85 percent of the vote in D.C., and in recent elections that number has climbed above 90 percent. If representation were truly the concern, parts of D.C. could be returned to Maryland or Virginia. Statehood is simply a power grab.
The Constitution is not the problem. It has preserved liberty and stability for more than 230 years. The real problem is that too many people have forgotten why these institutions exist. The Founders were not perfect, but they created the greatest system of government in history.
Here at The P.A.S. Report, we will continue to push back against those who want to dismantle the Republic. Because if we allow the Constitution to be undermined, America will become unrecognizable.
